My name is Jessica and I am a Qualified Early Childhood Teacher here at Woodlands Preschool. I have been working in Early Childhood since I graduated from the University of Canterbury in 2021. I graduated with a Graduate Diploma in Teacher and Learning (Primary) after undergoing a 3 year degree in Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Education and minoring in Geography and Sociology.
I am a teacher that aims to create meaningful, engaging and creative activities that will be effective for a child’s learning and development. I aim to be a fun teacher where endless games and fun will be had. I love taking the children on excursions and allowing them that hands-on learning experience that the world outside of the classroom has to offer. I love having conversations with the children about anything that interests them and exploring those interests through extended learning opportunities. Most importantly I aim to be a friend to each child. I think nothing is more important than creating safe and trusting relationships with all the tamariki and their whanau.
In my free time, I love spending time with my friends, family and partner. I enjoy weekly quiz nights as I love learning new things. I have a big sporting background and you can always find me watching the Crusaders, All Blacks, Blackcaps and the V8 supercars. I used to play football for 15 years so I bring my knowledge around sports into the preschool environment. I enjoy reading, running and going camping.
