Our team

Teachers who know your child

Parents choose people, not buildings. Our kaiako take the time to know every child as an individual, and to keep you connected to their learning.

A key teacher for every whānau

From your first settling visit, your family is paired with a key teacher. They get to know your child's routines, interests and needs, and they are the person you can talk to at drop-off and pick-up.

Small groups mean our kaiako have the time to build genuine relationships, with your child and with you.

I grew up in a large whānau and around early childhood educators, and I knew I shared their passion for children. I studied by distance while working 32 hours a week, and later gained my Diploma in Teaching.

I worked with both under-twos and over-twos for ten years before travelling and starting my own family. I now enjoy working two to three days a week.

I am passionate about respectful learning environments, and I love being creative in the classroom alongside our tamariki.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Teaching
Clare, kaiako at Woodlands Preschool

Clare

I started my teaching journey in secondary schools, earning a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education and Health, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning (Secondary).

Travelling the world changed how I see education and shaped the way I teach. That journey led me to a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood), and here I am today.

Whānau and friends mean a great deal to me, and I firmly believe whānau play a crucial role in children's learning. Connections with whānau and peers shape a child's sense of mana atua and belonging.

Throughout my teaching career, whanaungatanga and relationships have been at the heart of my values, in my personal and professional life alike. I love taking time to connect with and support tamariki and their whānau in the early years of their learning journey.

Outside the centre I cherish time with my partner, our dog Rocky, and our whānau around New Zealand.

I bring a deep love for working with young tamariki, a natural ability to connect with them, and hands-on experience that grows every day.

I believe in supporting each tamaiti to grow with patience, care and encouragement, somewhere they feel safe, confident and free to be themselves.

I am originally from the Fiji Islands. I moved to Ōtautahi with my partner and our son, and it did not take us long to fall in love with the place. Now we call it home.

Violet, kaiako at Woodlands Dallington

Violet

My journey began as a primary school teacher, where I developed a love for teaching new entrants. This sparked my passion for social and emotional learning and led me to a deep passion for early childhood education.

My background in primary teaching gives me a unique understanding of the transition to school and the importance of building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy from an early age. I believe in the importance of forming genuine reciprocal relationships with each tamaiti and their whānau. As well as creating an environment where every child feels a sense of joy and belonging.

I believe every child is wonderfully unique, full of potential, and deserving of love, respect, and a strong sense of belonging. My passion is to create a warm, nurturing environment where tamariki feel safe, valued, and confident to be themselves.

As a male kaiako and a father, I enjoy being a positive, caring role model in children's lives. I'm also a ukulele player and love bringing music, storytelling, and fun into everyday learning experiences.

Being bilingual in Mandarin and English allows me to celebrate cultural diversity and build meaningful connections with tamariki and whānau from different backgrounds. I believe strong relationships are at the heart of children's learning and growth.

Above all, I see teaching as more than sharing knowledge. It's about planting seeds of kindness, nurturing character, and helping every child discover the wonderful person they are becoming.

Qualifications

  • Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Measurement and Control Technology and Instrumentation

Kayla

I have always had a passion for working with children. As the oldest of four girls, I spent lots of time babysitting my younger sisters and loved playing with them and helping them learn new things. This passion led me to pursue my Bachelor of Teaching (ECE), which I completed in 2023 while working as a kaiako in Wellington. After five years of teaching there, I made the move to Christchurch at the beginning of 2026.

I believe that building strong, trusting relationships with tamariki and their whānau is so important. I love getting to know each child, discovering what they enjoy, and finding fun ways to support their learning through play. I especially enjoy sensory play, sharing books, exploring outdoors, and having fun and being a little silly with tamariki along the way! I love seeing their confidence grow as they learn new things and explore the world around them.

I have been teaching Early Childhood Education for 18 years. As an ECE teacher, I believe the early years are some of the most important in a child's life. I'm passionate about fostering curiosity, confidence, and kindness in young children while creating an environment where they feel safe, valued, and encouraged to be themselves. I love to include whānau in their child's learning journey and I feel that it is important that they feel welcomed and comfortable alongside their tamariki.

I enjoy creating a warm, inclusive and supportive environment where every child feels valued, respected and encouraged to explore their interests. I believe in building strong relationships with children, whānau and colleagues, as these connections play an important role in supporting children's learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging.

I am passionate about supporting children's individual learning journeys and celebrating their achievements, while embracing their cultures, identities and unique strengths.
